February 1-Don’t Let Those Fries Win

Happy Monday. How was your weekend? Mine was cold! We even had a little plumbing issue from all the cold here at Carla’s, but after a visit from a not-so-nice plumber (I’m sure the ice and the cold had him a bit on edge), we are once again washing clothes.  Does anyone but me think the best thing at McDonald’s are the fries? In fact, that’s all I eat there. Fries and ice tea. But i love me some of those fries let me tell you what! Sometimes, I’ll just eat a large fries for lunch (I did that last Friday in fact). Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not recommending it. It’s not a good idea. Fries are like the most unhealthy food you can possibly eat and the calorie count is ridiculous. But they just taste so stinkin’ good—which is why I’m so tempted by them.  I’m tempted by other things that aren’t good for me, too. Happy Friday! How are you doing? Yesterday Oscar had surgery on his hand. It was his first time under general anesthetic and he was hilarious. He told us everything from he was just like Jesus, because they nailed his hand to they must have run out of rooms because they took him to a cooler. The doctor never showed up, so he went ahead and framed a house while he was waiting and he thought maybe that was how he nailed his hand. He said “I was going fast! But I don’t know why they took my clothes!” It was entertaining.  On the contrary, earlier I had had two little boys in my car who couldn’t seem to quit fighting, so we decided to simply just be quiet for 10 minutes. (“if you can’t say something nice...”) The things we say—even if we don’t know we are saying them—have all kinds of effects.  How often do words encourage you, excite you, turn a bad day into a great day? Friday-Thankful

Happy Friday. I’m still feeling awful, but I’m trying to find things to be thankful for since this is November and in a few weeks those of us in the US will be celebrating Thanksgiving. Last week I received a hand written note and it made me think of that lost art. I have a couple of friends that are faithful to send those to me and they mean so much when I receive them. I rarely send those out but I certainly cherish them and if you are like me, you delete email, but save those notes for some time. In fact I have a few boxes of them and I always am grateful that someone took the time to take pen in hand and write a note just to me.  “Thank you! Everything in me says “Thank you!” Angels listen as I sing my thanks.
