March 24-Hope for Tomorrow

It’s the weekend! How are you doing? Yesterday, I caught just a few minutes of the PBS travel guy Rick Steves when he was in Thailand at a hidden Buddhist temple, after climbing 1,252 steps to get there. While he was interviewing one of the orange robed monks, I heard the monk say how very important meditation was for everyone. He said if you follow Buddha, or you are Catholic or you follow Islam, it doesn’t really matter; what matters is that you practice meditation. It is really beneficial for you.

I just kept starting at that little bald guy grinning into the camera and I couldn’t get him off my mind. I kept thinking that that Jesús Christ left the Throne of Glory, came to earth in human form—born of a virgin, no less—taught us how to live, performed miracles, was despised and rejected, sacrificed his life, conquered death, and gave us the Comforter In the form of the Holy Spirit, not so we could sit on a mountain top and meditate, but so we could have a hope, a hope for more than just this life.

“Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled...Then all of you can join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭15:4, 6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The more I thought about that little guy the more sad the whole thing became. Especially when he said “tahere is no difference.” It makes me want to go find him on that mountain on that little Thailand island and climb those 1200+ steps just to tell him there IS a difference. MY God gives me hope for tomorrow and hope changes everything.

“Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal comfort and a wonderful hope, comfort you and strengthen you in every good thing you do and say.” 2 Thessalonians‬ ‭2:16-17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Do you know anyone sitting on a mountain figuratively? Who thinks there’s really no difference and if you just (fill in the blank) they’ll be fine? Do you need to climb some steps and talk to them?

Dear Father thank you God for being a great God, for the hope you bring to me and for the eternal comfort that makes such a difference in my life. We love you and worship you today Great Jehovah, you are our Messiah, the Holy One of Israel. We praise you and life you high, alleluia. Amen and amen.

Love you dear one,

Talk to you Monday,

Pam
