December 31

Happy New Years Eve. Have you got big plans for tonight? Have you written out you resolutions? Can you even believe it’s almost 2020? It still sounds like science fiction to me. And yet, time just keeps marching on, doesn’t it? It is one of those curious facts of life that as you get older, time seems to speed up.

And sometimes we get so caught up in our big, new plans for the coming year we forget all about God would have in His plans for us.

“Look here, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we are going to a certain town and will stay there a year. We will do business there and make a profit.” How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning fog—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. What you ought to say is, “If the Lord wants us to, we will live and do this or that.” Otherwise you are boasting about your own pretentious plans, and all such boasting is evil.” ‭‭James‬ ‭4:13-16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

But the great news is God’s plans for us far exceed anything we could ever dream for ourselves. He knows the plan He has for each of us and it is one that gives us good, hope and a future, not a disaster.

“No, the wisdom we speak of is the mystery of God —his plan that was previously hidden, even though he made it for our ultimate glory before the world began.” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭2:7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

So today, as we decide on our course for this new decade, let’s make sure that we are building our plans firmly around those the Father has for us. Amen?

Lord of Light and of our future, thank you for being with us this past year and walking with us step by step. Your grace so completely forgave us when we stumbled and your great mercy covered us as we struggled. But you never once left us. How great is your love. We ask you to help us as we plan for the coming year that your Spirit would guide us as we seek direction. Surround those who continue to struggle through these holidays and let them feel your touch so they can know they are not alone. Thank you for being such a caring God. We praise and adore you. Amen and amen.

Love you dear one,

Pam
