Agust 14-Gods House
Completely the opposite, in Psalms 122, David expressed a profound joy when he was invited to go to the house of the Lord to worship and pray in the presence of God.
“I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go to the house of the Lord.””
Psalms 122:1 NLT
Can you relate? Or do you have other thoughts? We are overloaded with schedules and distractions that just never end and somehow, it’s easy to allow church to become optional or become another checklist item on our to-do list. Gathering together with the body of Christ can become a chore like taking out the garbage or folding the laundry and when that happens, we have to stop, and and re-focus.
The Bible holds a promise in Psalm 92:10 that those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.
“For they are transplanted to the Lord’s own house. They flourish in the courts of our God.” Psalms 92:13
We will be like a time-and-storm-tested oak tree that people come from far and wide to find shelter beneath its branches. Gathering with fellow believers by serving, praying, worshipping, and leaning into the teaching of God’s word realigns our souls in the midst of a world that clamors to keep our attention on temporary, earthly things. It roots us to something far deeper than the things of earth, the very heart of God. And you, my friend, were made to flourish.
Lord thank you for your house of worship—a place where we can meet together for corporate praise and prayer. We are glad when it is is time to go to your house. We love you and we want to celebrate you. What a wonderful God you are and we want to remember that all the days of our lives. We bring to you today our friends and family who are sick and hurting and we ask that you touch them in your special way. Let them feel your presence Lord—push back the darkness. Go before us this day and fight our battles for us we pray. Amen and amen.
Love you dear one,
Pam
