June 25–Love

Happy Thursday! Yesterday I spent the day with Braden and Bailey and we really had a great time. We talked about “remember when” times and how much fun we have had together. Bailey and I took a little “high maintenance” quiz and they both were able to answer every question for me—and correctly! We have shared sometime together.

That’s what happens when you share time with someone—you get to know them really well. And that’s what happens when we spend time with Jesus—we get to know him really well..It follows then that the more we know Him, the more we act like Him and copy His ways. We will begin to think about things the way Jesus thinks about them when we spend time in His presence. We learn to love deeper, care further and think about others more than ourselves. It’s what Jesus does.

“Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God.” Ephesians‬ ‭5:1-2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Every time we are told to follow Jesus or imitate Him, we are reminded to love. Here we are told that our entire life should be filled up with love, just like Jesus did. The love He showed for us was great enough that He went through un-human torture and finally death, so that we might be free. He could have called 10,000 angels, but He didn’t. He died alone on the horrible cross. It’s hard for us to sacrifice the remote control to someone else and we’re certainly not going to hand our phone over to them. Loving the way Jesus does doesn’t come naturally. We have to practice it and model it and we have to be willing to give our time and selves to others.

Lord Jesus, teach us to follow your example as we walk with you. We want to spend time with you and to learn to walk as you do. We thank you for offering your life as a sacrifice and we pray that our offering of praise and worship is pleasing to you. Help us to dedicate time this day for you and to think of you continually—for our praise to be ever on our lips. You are a great God, there is none other like you. Thank you for making us children of God—for that, we will be ever grateful. Help us to live lives worthy of you. We love you Lord! Amen and amen.

Love you dear one,

Pam
