May 4–The Party

Here we are at another weekend! And this weekend is Cinco de Mayo. Most Americans have no idea why we celebrate it, but we do. Parties everywhere, lots of tacos and guacamole. It won be long, in fact, soon, that we will have a real celebration. When we see the King, and prepare to leave this world, the party of parties will commence. On that day, we will leave everything we have behind and take only what we are.

““Now learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branches bud and its leaves begin to sprout, you know that summer is near. In the same way, when you see all these things taking place, you can know that his return is very near, right at the door...However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows. And since you don’t know when that time will come, be on guard! Stay alert!” Mark‬ ‭13:28-29, 32-33‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I don’t think we are often terribly alert for Christ’s coming. We go on with life and in the back of our mind, know it could happen at any time, but do we stay on guard? We have been bought with a price—a steep price. I wonder often times if I was worth the price, but I am and so were you. He has made us, fearfully and wonderfully and in the very image of God. He knows exactly what we are worth and He paid our cost.

So how do we get ready for the big party? Jude tells us we need to contend for the faith. Paul tells us to pay attention and that any lack of attention to the Word is treating it with contempt. Luke tells us in the book of Acts, ““Therefore I want you to know that God’s salvation has been sent to the Gentiles, and they will listen!””

‭‭Acts‬ ‭28:28‬ ‭NIV Are we part of the listening crew? How much is God in our lives and what part does He play? Do we listen?

Most Holy Lord Jesus, teach us to listen. To listen for your direction, your will in our lives and your coming. We aren’t listeners by nature and we know we should contend for our faith, pay attention to the Word, and be on guard for your coming. You are the Alpha and the Omega, the soon and coming King and we worship you this day and one day soon we will worship at your feet. We will see you face to face in all of your glory. What a day that will be! Thank you for our salvation and for our blessed hope. Hallelujah to our Savior! Amen and amen.

Love you dear one,

Pam
