May 30- Jesus Cares

Happy Thursday to you. I’m packed and ready to go! I fly out to Connecticut tomorrow to spend the weekend with Braden (my grandson) before leaving for Israel on Monday. Does it get any better? Sometimes, we just get dunked in blessings. And sometimes, we wonder what’s going on and why are we under such oppression.

I saw something in my reading yesterday that I had not noticed before. In Luke 20, Jesus has been teaching in the temple and on the streets. The Pharisees and Sadducees had tried to trick Him in front of the people, but He just made them look foolish because He taught as no one had before. Consequently, the crowds around him had continued to increase. And when we say “crowds following Jesus” we are talking CROWDS. Like nothing movie stars or rock stars have ever seen—the Beatles had nothing on Jesus. But even as The Teacher is mobbed with people, He saw a little widow woman giving her offering. Even through the pandemonium, He didn’t miss this little lady. If you’ve ever wondered if Jesus even cares about the details of your life, wonder no more. He misses nothing—even in human form, Jesus missed nothing.

“While Jesus was in the Temple, he watched the rich people dropping their gifts in the collection box. Then a poor widow came by and dropped in two small coins. “I tell you the truth,” Jesus said, “this poor widow has given more than all the rest of them. For they have given a tiny part of their surplus, but she, poor as she is, has given everything she has.”” Luke‬ ‭21:1-4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Jesus doesn’t want just a little from us when we aren’t busy, He’s asking for full commitment. Radical, to the root of it all commitment. Commitment that would cause us to give all we have and all we are to Him. He obviously doesn’t just want what we have left over—He wants to have control. And that’s tough. To just turn over our lives, our resources, our families...but that’s what He asks. And He can ask it because He is God, the Messiah, the Lord of all and King of kings. We have to decide if we want to be a disciple or if we just want to be a person in the crowd listening but not really sold-out.

Jesus, Savior, thank you for caring about the details of our lives. You are a great God and we are so overwhelmed by the love and care you show us. How could the King of Glory care about me? How can we ever say enough about your amazing love! We want to be disciples and not just people in the crowd. We want to truly follow you and to have your spirit pour from us. Teach us Lord to love like you do. Help us to be a friend to those around us and to be authentically your disciple so that others may see you in us. Thank you for the hope we have found in you and we are so blessed with your peace. Amen and amen.

Love you dear one,

Pam
