April 23-Generations

Happy Tuesday! My granddaughter Bailey is graduating from high school this yea and I can’t even believe how time has flown by. I’ve been thinking a lot about what to get her but more than that, I’ve been thinking about my letter to her. I’ve started writing it and a couple of times I’ve written “sometimes when you ——, think of me” because I don’t want her to forget me. I want her to remember her Nina as someone who loved her like crazy and always had open arms for her.

It’s part of who we are as people I think That we want to be remembered by those who come behind us. I put flowers on the graves of people I never met, but I know their stories because they were told to me to me by others who are already gone, so I remember them all. And I tell my kids and grandkids “Because they were, I am and because I am, you are.”

When King David began writing Psalm 22, he opens with the lament of “My God, my God why have you forsaken me?”—the very same words quoted by our Savior on the cross. But just as the cross ends in victory and praise, so does David’s psalm.

“The whole earth will acknowledge the Lord and return to him. All the families of the nations will bow down before him. For royal power belongs to the Lord. He rules all the nations. Let the rich of the earth feast and worship. Bow before him, all who are mortal, all whose lives will end as dust. Our children will also serve him. Future generations will hear about the wonders of the Lord. His righteous acts will be told to those not yet born. They will hear about everything he has done.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭22:27-31‬ ‭NLT‬‬

And so it is with the Lord. We have been told of His righteous acts and we are accountable to those coming behind. They need to hear about everything He has done—then and now. “May all who come behind us find us faithful. May the fire of our devotion light their way. May the footprints that we leave, lead them to believe, and the lives we live inspire them to obey. May all who come behind us find us faithful.”

And because He was, we are!

Praise Him.

Dear Jesus, we sing your glory this day and we remember. We tell your great works to those who come after us and will continue to tell those who have not yet been born. You have done great things, bless your holy Name. We worship and adore you Jehovah Jirah our King and Defender, we ask you to touch our family and friends today that stand in need of healing. Touch their bodies and supernaturally let them feel your Spirit surrounding them, and keeping them safe from the attacks of the enemy. We sing hallelujah, the Lamb has overcome. Amen and amen.

Love you dear one,

Pam
