April 1

Good Monday to you. I hope you had a great weekend and found time to worship the Lord in Spirit and in truth. Georgia and i were talking yesterday how odd Sundays seem since we are doing our corporate worship on Thursday evenings now. When your whole life you have gone to church on Sunday morning, staying home makes it feel like you are almost doing something wrong. I still spend extra time Sunday morning to worship and to just commune with the Lord, but rituals and rules are often difficult to separate from what our relationship with God demands.

I thought of all the changes I’ve seen in the church in my lifetime. Music, bands, service times, dress, revivals, even Bible Schools and Camps are so very different. Buildings are much more functional, multiple service times rather than bigger buildings, and it goes on and on. Yet, the style of worship doesn’t change the fact that God’s people still gather together to worship Him like they have done since the days of the Exodus. God’s people still come together in one place to hear His word proclaimed and praise the only wise King, even if it’s on Thursday night.

When the ritual and rule following a religious leaders of Jesus’ time tried to trick Him by posing a silly question, He of course saw right through it. His reply to them was “Don’t you even read the Scripture? You’re supposed to be the experts here and you don’t even know what it says!”

“Jesus replied, “Are you not in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God?...Now about the dead rising—have you not read in the Book of Moses, in the account of the burning bush, how God said to him, ‘I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You are badly mistaken!”” Mark‬ ‭12:24, 26-27‬ ‭NIV‬‬

You are badly mistaken! In a little while Jesus is going to tell them “You strain a gnat and swallow a camel” They got so caught up with the minutia, they missed the whole idea. God is God of the living. And as long as we are living beings, things will change. And even though worship times, styles, and venues may vary, one thing remains...He is our Lord and of that, we can never be mistaken.

Lord of the Living, thank you for your Holy presence living in us and with us everywhere and at all times. We are so thankful that we can meet with you when we come together and we are not bound by a calendar nor a location. We are bound solely by you Lord—it’s your breath in our lungs so we pour out our praise to you, great are you Lord, all the earth will shout your Name! We pray for your presence to go before us this day and guide us though this week. We need you Jesus. Amen and amen.

Love you dear one,

Pam
