March 5

Happy Tuesday to you! I hope your week is off to a good start. It was so cold here yesterday! Bitter cold. But the Crowder Circle girls braved the frigid air for our monthly meeting. We started with just a couple of us and our group grows each month. We love each other and we love getting together. We won’t leave without setting out next meeting date. You could say we are passionate about it.

When Jesus was getting His disciples ready to spread the gospel to the world, He needed to make sure their faith was something they were in to live, not just speak. Their faith needed to be a passionate commitment to action. Jesus honored people who weren’t satisfied to simply knowing the truth, He honored people who passionately, persistently pursued it and lived it. His true disciples who wanted to be just like Him certainly had that passion.

Jesus brought his disciples to one of the most evil places Caesarea Philippi where it was nicknamed the Gates of Hell because of the worship of the god Pan and where the water came out people believed Pan returned to hell itself. While there were there He challenges the disciples to take on the world and the power of sin and death itself, even the gates of hell. Then He laid out a challenge to the crowd to follow him.

“When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, “Who do people say the Son of Man is?” They replied, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” “But what about you?” he asked. “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus replied, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by flesh and blood, but by my Father in heaven. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” Matthew‬ ‭16:13-16

Not even that evil city nor nothing evil that man has ever done or will ever do will over come His church. Praise His Name! Amen?

Lord Jesus, we praise you today for you are the same today as you were when you told Peter that the gates of hell would not prevail and you will be the very same God tomorrow. We are so very glad that you are our Lord because you alone can save us; you alone can hear us; you alone can change our lives. We ask for your blessings and a hedge of protection around those we love. There are ones today that are desperately ill, desperately broken, and desperately in need of your touch. We want to interceded for others today because you are the Christ, the Son of the Living God. Amen and amen.

Love you dear one,

Pam
