March 30

It’s the Weekend!

One of my good friends is going through a rough time. People she has to deal with on a daily basis are not of God and are making her life very difficult. People can certainly make life rough. People did that to Jesus and to every disciple, to Stephen, to John the Baptist, and to those listed in Hebrews 11 as the many martyrs of the faith. But this one thing we have is the promise of God that no matter how hard pressed we are, we do not have to be broken.

“But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.”

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4:7-9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We are just a spiritual being on earth living in a “jar of clay,” a temporary tent for our soul, but we possess an all encompassing power directly from the Throne of God. They can knock us down, but Praise Jesus, they can’t keep us there.

It takes a lot of crushing pressure (130,000 atmospheres) and extreme heat (thousands of degrees) to make a diamond. In fact, it needs to happen 90 to 100 miles beneath the surface of the earth. It is swept closer to the surface by volcanic eruptions or streams or plate shifts...who knows. But it does happen!

And it can happen to us. There are times in our lives God is making us to be more than dust—turning us into diamonds. When it happens, we need to be ready for the pressure, for the heat, for the feeling that we are so buried we will never see the light of day. But God is t going to leave us 100 miles below the surface. When we are ready, when it’s time, we will be shot to the surface ready to shine!

Father, we praise you for the tough times because you are the God who is making diamonds out of dust. We ask for your help and your hand of protection as we are knocked down, as we are under pressure, perplexed, and struck down because of who we are. We pray that you help us to keep your precepts and your law while those who seek to persecute us are watching our every action and reaction. We love you Jehovah Nissi, for you are the banner who goes before us in battle. We love you and worship you our God Almighty. Amen and amen.

Love you dear one,

Pam
