March 26-Passover

Happy Tuesday!

Yesterday when my sister and I were doing business for our mom, we took a little detour and stopped in at one of our favorite little stores. There were so many cute Easter decorations we oo-ed and aah-ed over that it made me realize that we have entered into the season of the Passover.

It was the beginning of the Passover when the crowds had begun to gather in Jerusalem and Jesus entered Jerusalem on the donkey. The Passover represents God delivering His people from slavery to new life and a sacrifice was needed. History tells us that it was usual for around 250,000 lambs to be slaughtered during Passover in Jerusalem. But on this special day, the prefect Lamb, the Deliverer, entered the city.

““Tell the people of Jerusalem, ‘Look, your King is coming to you. He is humble, riding on a donkey— riding on a donkey’s colt.’...Most of the crowd spread their garments on the road ahead of him, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. Jesus was in the center of the procession, and the people all around him were shouting, “Praise God for the Son of David! Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Praise God in highest heaven!””

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭21:5, 8-9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

This very day, Jesus was accepting the praise that would cost him his life. This Passover, when they would normally choose the lamb, the Perfect Lomb would chose to give His life for all of them and for all of us. We are no longer required to bring the best because God brought His best and certainly nothing we could bring could match that.

The crowds thought He was coming as the conqueror and they were laying the

palm branches (an equivalence of a tiker-tape parade). I think maybe the thing that I am most in awe of is the fact that Jesus rode this young donkey in the middle of a crowd, yelling and waving the palm branches without the donkey going a little crazy. That seems like to me to be a miracle of its own. But miracles just happened everywhere around Jesus...they still do.

Praise you Jesus, son of God. You were the Passover Lamb who was the perfect sacrifice to pay for the sins of the world. You rode into Jerusalem the last time on a donkey but we know the next time it will be on a great white horse to claim your own. We are overwhelmed. We ask you for forgiveness where we fail you and we pray for release from strongholds and ask that you guard us from the enemy’s attacks. We love you Lord and we magnify your great name. Hallelujah to the lamb. Amen and amen

Love you dear one,

Pam
