March 23–The Choice

It’s the weekend and I woke up super early this morning with a massive migraine (spring and it’s weather fronts is not my friend) so I’m exceedingly late with my thoughts this day. However, even on days like today is it important to choose, as we should do every day, who we will serve this day, and to remember why we serve Him.

“But if you refuse to serve the Lord, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the Lord.””

‭‭Joshua‬ ‭24:15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease.”

‭‭Lamentations‬ ‭3:22‬ ‭NLT‬‬

I think it’s important to quote scripture like this to ourselves first thing every day. Write it on the bathroom mirror or in your phone so you see it before you look at your calendar. Let the Word of God set the tone for the day and not your agenda. Let it help you see truth and be able to focus on it instead of the temporary things of your up-coming day.

We need God’s grace, and we want to be reminded that we can choose to set our mind on God or we can choose to set our mind on self. If we awaken and allow our thoughts to be consumed by self or with our circumstances, what will we feel in the end? Discouraged! By contrast, if we choose to pray and seek the Lord instead, there can be peace, hope, and renewal.

Remember, you can choose each day whom you will serve. And sometimes it may take a moment-by-moment reorienting of your mind throughout the day, but this choice begins first thing in the morning. So as you enter into this daily choice, trust in the One who created the new day and you. He will provide the grace you need to make each new day His.

Father, your promises are new each morning and great is your faithfulness. We worship you for you are the God who cares for us and the God who reigns over all. Hallelujah to the Lamb that was slain so that we might live. We ask Lord that you would call to our minds each morning for us to remember to choose—to choose whom we will serve and why. Great are you Lord. Amen and amen.

Love you dear one,

Pam
