March 11–Peace

Happy Monday! Well, one week after the doctor told me I had a sinus infection, he told me that I had the flu, and yes, I’d had my flu shot this year. Mercy this had been the winter for being sick! But through all the trials and storms of illness, amazingly enough, the Lord of peace has given peace at all times.

“Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.”

‭‭2 Thessalonians‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭NIV

You know, when we don’t feel well, we try to describe what we are feeling to others and if they’ve had something similar, they can sympathize with us—they understand how it’s effecting us and that somehow helps. But when we read Psalms 31, we understand that no one understands or cares like the Lord.

“I will rejoice and be glad in your steadfast love, because you have seen my affliction; you have known the distress of my soul.” (Psalm 31:7)

The Hebrew word translated rejoice here means, literally, “to spin around.” And—How great is this—the term steadfast love can be translated “merciful kindness.” When we put it all together, the verse comes out like this: “I will spin for joy and be glad because of Your merciful kindness to me, because You have seen my affliction; You have known the anguish of my soul.” The psalmist found great comfort in knowing that God understood his pain—and that the One who understood him was mighty to save. That is indeed a reason to spin for joy and we know David often dances before the Lord. God sees us, knows us, loves us, and is mighty to save us. Yes, definitely something to dance over (as soon as I’m well enough!)

Lord of All, we praise you and thank you for the glorious peace beyond all human understanding that you so freely bestow on us. We love you, adore you, and bow before you. You alone understand our deepest thoughts, feelings, and pains. You know us more Intimately than any other and yet love us more than anyone else. What a wonderfully perfect Father you are and we ask for you blessings this day. Lead us in your steps and teach us your ways. All honor and glory to you our great King. Amen and amen.

Love you dear one,

Pam
