February 4 - Seeing Jesus

Happy Monday. I hope you had a great weekend. Did you see the Super Bowl? It wasn’t a great game, but we did see a couple of legends make history. After the game, the reporters surrounded Tom Brady and were just nearly crushing him. Brady was trying to congratulate the players and he couldn’t get close to them for all the cameras. Other than the microphones, that must have been what it was like for Jesus when the crowds were following Him and everyone wanted a part of Him.

When Jesus went through Jericho (on His way to Jerusalem), the crowds around Him were significant. When the blind man, Bartemaeus heard the crowds coming by him, he realized Jesus was right there, so he begn to scream incessantly for “Jesus, Son of David.” The people closest to him told him to shut up, but he just screamed louder. And of course, Jesus heard him and said “Tell him to come to me.” The blind beggar jumped up threw off everything he had and went to the Savior. Jesus asked him a great question. “What do you want me to do for you?” Bartemaeus simply said “I want to see.”

So what do we want Jesus to do for us? If we’re smart like Bartemaeus, we’ll throw off all the things that keep us on the sidelines and we’ll go straight to the Master. When he asks what we want, we can say “Open our eyes Lord, we just want to see You.” After Bartemaeus could see, he became a member of the crowd and followed Jesus because once you’ve seen Jesus, you can’t help but follow Him.

“When Jesus heard him, he stopped and said, “Tell him to come here.” So they called the blind man. “Cheer up,” they said. “Come on, he’s calling you!” Bartimaeus threw aside his coat, jumped up, and came to Jesus. “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked. “My Rabbi, ” the blind man said, “I want to see!” And Jesus said to him, “Go, for your faith has healed you.” Instantly the man could see, and he followed Jesus down the road.”

‭‭Mark‬ ‭10:49-52‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Jesús, Son of David, have mercy on us. We want to see you Lord in all of your holy majesty. We want to know you more and understand who you truly are. Help us to continually follow you. You are a great God who cares for us and loves us most. We ask you for the courage to scream your name, if need be, even when those around us try to shut us up. We are so thankful for your amazing grace and for your reckless love. You are our God and we worship only you our great King. Amen and amen.

Love you dear one,

Pam
