February 16–The Plan

Happy Saturday! I hope it is warmer where you are than it is at my house. Yesterday, our streets were so slick we were under Emergency Road Conditions. The whole town was a mess and most everything closed early to get people home. Isn’t it amazing how the weather can put a grinding-halt to our best laid plans? No matter how well thought-out, our intentions just stop when things like a blanket of ice appears. 


There are times we have our life’s course laid out and we are able to follow each step on our objective plan. However, more often than not, life happens, as we say—Babies come along, we get sick, we lose a loved one...and we have to re-group an re-analyze what we are doing and why we were doing it. After spending lots of time in prayer, we can decide on the next steps God would have us to take and our new course of action begins to develop. 


We are wise to understand that we really aren’t in control, but the Creator of the Universe has the master plan in His hand. His ways are not our ways (Remember He sees the really big picture). And our lives, though they may seem a series of start and stops and start agains, are all a part of His big plan. Your reaction to life’s interruptions will effect people all around you. 


“I have a plan for the whole earth, a hand of judgment upon all the nations. The Lord of Heaven’s Armies has spoken— who can change his plans? When his hand is raised, who can stop him?”” Isaiah‬ ‭14:26-27‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah‬ ‭29:11‬ ‭NLT


Lord of All, we praise you today for who you are and for the mighty things you have done. Thank you for telling us the plans you have for us are for a future and hope. Who can stop the Lord Almighty? We know you control the master plan and at times when it may seem as though we have failed, in truth, you are using our failures for your glory. Help us Lord to understand that it is all about you and even if we are but a small piece of the grand plan, we are a vital piece. Forgive us when we want to quit and take off doing our own thing. Change us from the inside out and use us Father for your glory and not that men may esteem us. You are glory and you are majesty. Thank you Lord for your mercy and grace on our lives that prepares us for the work ahead. We love you Lord for you are holy. Amen and amen.

Happy Friday. It’s the end of another week and we have had more opportunities to share the love of Christ with those around us and sometimes that takes quite a bit of effort. I don’t know about you, but I’m not always anxious to embrace others and really listen to them or share with them (especially those who I don’t know well). Happy Wednesday to you. I hope your week is going well. Yesterday, I went to Sams. I was out of things like trash bags, toilet paper, and chicken, so off I went. I like going to Sams because there is always lots to look at and the isles are nice and wide. Everytime I’m there, I am amazed at how much stuff and everything from diapers to TVs to mangos to beds. It just seems incredible that so many things in such quantities are all under one roof.  King David never saw a store with as much stuff aa Sams of course, but he did see countless miracles and understand that God has plans. He knew from creation and history that he was serving a God of miracles and he know that God loved him and his people and would take care of them. It’s Thursday and I woke up to the blowing wind! Lots of it—I’m dreading Boomer waking up and having to go outside with him. That harsh, bitter wind seems cruel and almost evil. But I’ll wrap myself up with a fe layers and boots and brave it all.  Sometimes I think we try to do that with things we know aren’t right—things that are evil. We try to wrap ourselves up and just wade into it, but Paul tells us we should reject it—stay away from it. “Do not treat prophecies with contempt but test them all; hold on to what is good, reject every kind of evil. May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
