I thought about Millie on that sidewalk all afternoon. She was completely helpless. Aren’t we like that sometimes? Coasting through life, getting all our favorite things, and suddenly, we faced with a curb in our path and we just fall and sometimes we fall hard. All kinds of things can trip us up—it’s different for everyone and Satan knows exactly what to put in front of us to make us stumble.
I don’t think God expects us to never fall, but He does warn us to be alert and ever mindful because Satan is sneaking about to destroy us. When those falls come, we need to get up. We don’t need to worry so much about what tripped us right then, but God does expect us to get up. Sometimes we can’t do that alone. Sometimes we need help and there are times, we need specialists to help us. Falling isn’t hard—it’s the getting up that takes courage and determination.
“For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.”
Romans 3:23 NLT
“Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself.”
Galatians 6:1 NLT
Lord Jesus we thank you for your amazing grace that covers us when we fall. You pick us up, dust us off and forgive us us when we fail you. Help us Lord to get up and not wallow in sin. Those times when we just can’t get up by ourselves, send the perfect ones to help us. Mound us and make us new Lord. We want to be more like you and we pray as we grow in our discipleship, we will fall less and less. You are so good to us and we want to tell you how we praise you and how we magnify your great Name. Amen and amen.
Love you dear friend,
Pam
