January 19–Live Life Accompanied.

It’s the weekend and it’s going to be terrible weather where I am, but that gives time for all sorts of in-the-house things—cleaning, organizing, couch potato-ing. Yesterday mom was re-admitted to the hospital. While I was driving back there, I couldn’t help but think how like our Christian lives—we improve and are doing well and we think we can do it on our own. Then, we step away and quickly we regress and if we are smart, go right back to where things are good—connected to Jesus. God will give us enough rope to let us get to the end of ourself so we will come back to Him. And how often do we have to get to the end before we realize where our real strength lies?

“The sacred writings contain preliminary reports by the prophets on God’s Son. His descent from David roots him in history; his unique identity as Son of God was shown by the Spirit when Jesus was raised from the dead, setting him apart as the Messiah, our Master. Through him we received both the generous gift of his life and the urgent task of passing it on to others who receive it by entering into obedient trust in Jesus. You are who you are through this gift and call of Jesus Christ!”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭1:2-7‬ ‭MSG

You are who you are because of this gift. Jesus was declared the Son of God because of His resurrection —of His victory over death. Without the resurrection, our faith is useless; with it our faith is powerful. And that power comes from our connection to Him. Living a life close to Christ is living a resurrected life, an accompanied life, in connection with God, wherever you are on your journey.

Father in Heaven, there are so many things that can separate us from being connected to you. Teach us Lord what it means to live an accompanied life. Keep connecting to us and cause us to remember your goodness and your grace and your great love. Help us Lord to dwell in the promise that You will never leave us nor forsake us. Lord, let us feel You near to us today. You are so so good to us and oh so very kind. We worship You because of who You are. Amen and amen.

Love you dear friend,

Pam
