December 31–Hear Him

Good Monday to you! And here it is, the last day of 2018. The years certainly seem to go faster as I get older. Last night, I was at the sweetest wedding. The bride and groom truly spoke from their hearts to each other when they said their vows they had written and it was beautiful. You could see on their faces that they were listening intently to every word from each other. They were completely tuned in to their new partner.

The Bible tells us that we are the bride, but do we hang on every word from Him like a bride? Do we listen like that for God’s voice? Do you remember the last time God spoke to you? Were you listening intently and tuned into Him? We know that God is speaking and when we can’t hear Him, it’s our ears and not His voice that has a problem. we need to simply say, like Samuel, “Speak Lord for your servant is listening.”

Listening makes all the difference. When you’re serious about hearing God, pray before you read from His word. Ask Him to direct you and to speak through His word to you. When I am genuine about hearing from the Father, the words on the page will speak clearly—sometimes even answering questions I didn’t ask. When you are praying about a decision, He will answer through His word, and that you can always trust.

“Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled. May God, who gives this patience and encouragement, help you live in complete harmony with each other, as is fitting for followers of Christ Jesus.

“Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭15:4‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Dear Lord, thank you for your word. It is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. Help us Father to learn to listen to you as we read and pour over your word. When we pray for answers to life’s questions, we can rest assured that you will reveal yourself to us through those ancient words that have been speaking to your servants for all of time. We ask that you would tune our ears to you gentle voice as we read. We are listening Lord. Amen and amen.

Love you dear friend,

Pam
