November 7–We just don’t know

Happy Wednesday. There is so much we just don’t know. I’ve been helping with our new baby yesterday and today. He’s had some sleeping issues for the last few days and his mom needed sleep pretty badly. When it comes to babies and their quirks, it’s a guessing game. Who knows why they do certain things or why one baby responds well to one thing or why one sleeps all night. You can’t ask them and we don’t remember, so it’s a guessing game figuring them out.

“Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity.” 1 Corinthians‬ ‭13:12a‬ ‭NLT‬‬

When you know you aren’t seeing the whole picture, it makes you feel like Elisha’s servant in II King’s 6. Remember the story? Elisha, the prophet of God, served the King of Israel. The King of Aram was at war with Israel and would decide where to send his troops. Immediately, Elisha would tell the King of Israel to keep his troops from that place because the Arameans were going to attack there.

After multiple times of being thawed the Aramean King was so frustrated he was sure he had a traitor, but his advisors assured him it was the prophet. So the king decided to kill him and when he located him, he sent lots of troops to surround him. When Elisha’s servant woke up he panicked because of the army surrounding them! Elisha just prayed “Lord open his eyes” and the servant immediately was able to see the mighty angel army that was much bigger and ready to fight the battle for them.

Do you ever feel like you just want God to open your eyes so you can see what’s really out there? So you can see the whole picture? I sure do. It’s not like you don’t believe God is on your side, or that He’s gonna show up, but if you could just once, see the invisible.

““Don’t be afraid!” Elisha told him. “For there are more on our side than on theirs!” Then Elisha prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes and let him see!” The Lord opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire.”

‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭6:16-17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The entire hillside full of horses and chariots of fire. Now THAT was something to see! And there are times now that when our battles get tough and the enemy seems to be coming at us, there is an unseen army fighting for us, standing in the gap to protect us from all sorts of things—visible and invisible.

Lord thank you for all the things you do for us that we can’t see, that we never know. We worship you and we praise you for the powerful way you protected Elisha and we know you are the same God who protects us today. You are holy and you are worthy of all honor and glory. You are the God who is, who was and who is to come. Hallelujah to the Lamb. Amen and amen.

Love you dear one,

Pam
