November 27–Come to the Table

Happy Monday to you. I hope you had a good time in the Lord yesterday and were able to spend some quality time with fellow believers in worship and in the Word. I know if you were in Kansas City, you were snowbound and had to alter your worship. Yesterday morning, as I was listening to music and offering praise, I was once again struck by the beauty of the song “Come to the Table.” The words speak straight to my heart as they say

“Come meet this motley crew of misfits

These liars and these thiefs

There's no one unwelcome here, no

So that sin and shame that you brought with you

You can leave it at the door

And let mercy draw you near

Just come to the table

Come join the sinners, you have been redeemed

Take your place beside the Savior now

Sit down and be set free

Come to the table”

And it is that simple. We are all sinners, misfits, liars, and so on. But, we have been saved because the Master accepted us with His great grace when we at one point let mercy draw us in to be set free! Set free to sit right down beside the Savior. He paid the price so that we can begin our eternal life at that moment and start to learn what it means to have a special relationship with Him—our place at the table.

The life at the table that we have been invited to, however requires more than just filling of ourselves until we’re full. It requires to follow in the footsteps of our Lord.

“This is the kind of life you’ve been invited into, the kind of life Christ lived. He suffered everything that came his way so you would know that it could be done, and also know how to do it, step-by-step. He never did one thing wrong, Not once said anything amiss. They called him every name in the book and he said nothing back. He suffered in silence, content to let God set things right. He used his servant body to carry our sins to the Cross so we could be rid of sin, free to live the right way. His wounds became your healing. You were lost sheep with no idea who you were or where you were going. Now you’re named and kept for good by the Shepherd of your souls.”

‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭2:21-25‬ ‭MSG‬‬

And the Shepherd of our souls has made us free to live the right way. We carry his name and we are kept for good, sitting right beside Him at the table.

Dear Jesus thank you for walking the

Most terrible path and giving us the example of how to handle any issue we encounter in this life. We are so blessed that you share a bit of what heaven will be like when we come to the table and are set free. We praise you for your goodness and your mercy and your great grace. You are the holy One who restores our souls. Amen and amen

Love you dear one,

Pam
