November 11-Live in the Light

Happy Monday and I hope you had a good weekend. We lost our daylight savings time a week ago and now darkness comes early at my house—by 5:30. I don’t like to go out when it’s already dark, it always seems colder when it’s dark and it’s a little disconcerting when you can’t see because it’s dark. And if it gets very dark, you may as well be blind.

A sunshiny day is a thing of songs—we like the day to be bright. Light changes our attitude and our outlook. Light obviously matters. Sunlight is the source of life for this planet—without light, plants die and without plants, animals die. It’s a cold, dark, lifeless place if we seal out the sun.

“Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.””

‭‭John‬ ‭8:12‬ ‭NLT

Jesus says that you don’t have to blindly wonder in the dark because He is light. And because He is the light, He brings life to the world.

When we step into the light out of the spiritual darkness, Jesus gives us new life and we start to look more like Him. In Matthew 5 Jesus doesn’t say you’ll get near the light of life, He says you’ll have it. When we become His disciples, we take on his attributes.

““You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:14‬ ‭NIV‬‬

When we step from darkness to light, we follow his steps rather than what we want to do. It costs us something to live in the light. It may cost us our time, our money, our family, our friends—it will have a cost. Jesus clearly tells us that if we follow Him, we will be persecuted but in spite of that, He is asking us to reflect him and live in the light. Not to just talk about the light, but to live it. Because He loves us and wants the absolute best for us.

Dear Jesus, thank you for a beautiful picture of you. We praise you today, regardless of circumstances or hardships, but we choose to bless your holy name. You are the Savior and Redeemer and we are your people. We love you Lord and we lift our voice to sing hallelujah to the risen King. Amen and amen.

Love you dear one,

Pam

ps. I’m having a little procedure today, so I’ll be out of touch a couple of days.
