October 3–Pure Heart

Happy Wednesday. Are you good today? Yesterday, I had an Echo Dot come in the mail. I’d been told they were great to help you out with things like turning off lights you’d forgotten. I’d been told they were super simple to use. I’d been told there was nothing to the set up. So, I followed the instructions to the letter and guess what? It didn’t work. So I started all over, it still didn’t work. The Echo just sits there with its fancy light and mocks me. My phone ap looks at me like “any kid could do this!” And last night I still had to get out of bed when the kitchen light was still on.

Have you ever been there? Followed those directions and it just didn’t work? Maybe you skipped a step or read through a comma or maybe they left something our you were just suppose to “know” intuitively (although who on earth knows why you would?) But it happens! Man’s instructions are simply fallible.

“The purpose of my instruction is that all believers would be filled with love that comes from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and genuine faith.”

‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭1:5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

But the purpose of the instruction that Paul provides Timothy is for all the church to be filled with love from pure hearts. And genuine hearts. And this instruction is infallible—they are simple, straightforward and genuine leading us to a life of calm assurance, true joy and a peace that is beyond understanding. And doesn’t depend on technology and a round piece of plastic.

The last two days, I have heard of several friends and friends of friends with cancer—some newly diagnosed and some severe, but all know Christ. It’s amazing through these tough times how this basic instruction Paul speaks of that leaves this pure heart, clear conscience and amazing peace changes the outlook of cancer for these believers. What witnesses they are!

Dear Jesus thank you for your basic instruction for genuine faith, clear conscience, and amazing peace. We ask you today to bless those who are in a battle for their very lives. Wrap them in Your arms and let them feel your holy presence as you flood their souls with you. We love you Lord for who you are, you have done mighty things for us and in us. Thank you for this day and for loving us even when we fail. You are good and you are great. You are El Elyon, the God most high. Amen and amen.

Love you dear one,

Pam
