September 7–Wash me clean

Happy Friday. I hope you’ve had a good week...it seemed like a short one to me. I’ve been trying to figure out how to landscape my yard, if I should put down sod or seed, how many trees, where to put the beds....when your yard is just dirt, it’s obvious you need to do something! And with so much rain the last few days, it’s a big mud pit now. It’s a mess to say the least. I’m going to get some help with it because there is no way I could tackle this job alone. In fact, I have my doubts anyone can really fix it!

Sometimes, do you ever wonder if that’s what our lives look like to God before he cleans us up? A big mud pit? And even though some of us look hopeless, like my yard right now, God looks beyond what we are and sees what we can be. Much like the landscapers I’ve been talking with. They look beyond that mud pit and see a lush lawn with trees and beautiful flower beds. They see the possibilities.

God looks beyond what we are and sees a productive Christian who looks for opportunities to share the Good News and tell others how Jesus took his mud pit of a life and made a beautiful garden.

“Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Oh, give me back my joy again; you have broken me— now let me rejoice. Don’t keep looking at my sins. Remove the stain of my guilt. Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me...Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you. Then I will teach your ways to rebels, and they will return to you...Unseal my lips, O Lord, that my mouth may praise you.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭51:7-10, 12-13, 15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

The Message says “Wash me in your laundry Lord and I will come out clean!” I think of a load of dirty white towels that you throw a little bleach in with and the come out sparkling! It’s a good feeling when we’ve been washed clean. When the old dirty things of ourself—the bad things we say, cheating, lying, bad thoughts, gossip, wrong actions or no actions at all—have been sent right down the drain and we never have to think about them again. God is good.

Dear Lord thank you for seeing beyond what we are to what we can be. You created us to be like you and we so often fail you yet, you clean us up every time and set our feet back to dancing. How you forgive and forget time after time is a mystery yet one we are profoundly grateful for. We adore you and worship you. You are the Almighty God, El Elyon, the God Most High because truly there is none above you. Bless us this day, surround us with your presence. We sing hallelujah to the Lamb who has overcome. Amen and amen.

Love you dear friend,

Pam
