September 3

Happy Monday and in the US it’s Happy Labor Day. I had a great day yesterday. First church with the family (afterwards my son-in-law bought me brunch) and then later, I was privileged to attend the wedding of a girl that is so very near and dear to my heart. She is just as pretty on the inside as the outside and last night, she was breathtaking. A new bride starting a new life with her husband—such a beautiful picture of love.

At the reception, I had a friend share a verse with me. She wanted me to know that she was confident the best was yet to come for both of us. She said “We live by the Word of God. It’s true. And He promises us there is a full future ahead.”

“Strength and dignity are her clothing and her position is strong and secure; And she smiles at the future [knowing that she and her family are prepared].”

‭‭PROVERBS‬ ‭31:25‬ ‭AMP‬‬

And the reason we can know that we are prepared for the future is because of Jesus and His sacrifice. Jesus gave his life as a sacrifice for our sin that we might be free from that bondage, from every weight that hinders us and frightens us and causes us to stumble. Free from the false messages of Satan trying to tell us that we are not just not enough—not smart enough or not strong enough or not young enough (or old enough) to really make any difference. We have the assurance, the promise that “Who the Son sets free, is free indeed. I’m a child of God, Yes I am!”

“Under the old system, the high priest brought the blood of animals into the Holy Place as a sacrifice for sin, and the bodies of the animals were burned outside the camp. So also Jesus suffered and died outside the city gates to make his people holy by means of his own blood...Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to his name. And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭13:11-12, 15-16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Regardless of our circumstances, we are enough. We are exactly as God has planned for us to be, and what ever place you find yourself, He’s called you to serve Him right there, right now. And just like Cheyenne was last night, we all stand waiting for our bridegroom to come. We want Him to find us beautiful and holy in His sight, with our lamps trimmed and ready.

Dear Lord, thank you for your word and the promises you have for us there. On every page, every day you have a new lesson for us. You word is light to our lives. Thank you for your gift of love and for your great example of love. Help us to have the faith to believe in the splendor and majesty of all that is you and to know that your grace is sufficient for our sinfulness. We offer to you our sacrifice of praise and we ask for opportunities to share with those in need. You are a great God and we sing hallelujah to your name. Amen and amen.

Love you dear friend,

Pam
