September 29-Weekends and Weddings

It’s the Weekend Warren and someone surely has a fall wedding to attend. If not this weekend, then in the next couple of weeks. I guess I have that on my mind because I was talking about weddings yesterday and how very much I used to love to dance at them. It’s such a good time for everyone. I love watching the besotted grooms. And of course the radiantly happy brides. It’s just joyful and it makes me want to dance!

“At midnight they were roused by the shout, ‘Look, the bridegroom is coming! Come out and meet him!’”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭25:6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Let us be glad and rejoice, and let us give honor to him. For the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb, and his bride has prepared herself. She has been given the finest of pure white linen to wear.” For the fine linen represents the good deeds of God’s holy people. And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.” And he added, “These are true words that come from God.””

‭‭Revelation‬ ‭19:7-9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Does the thought of that cause great joy in you or some other emotion? Does it make you nervous or cause anxiety? This time, this day is when we are to prepare ourselves to be the church, to be the bride that changes the world for Christ while we wait for our bridegroom.

I love this song by Bethel Music, it’s the ultimate wedding song. It’s not a sweet little love song that we think of at weddings, but rather it’s a song about the great love, the perfect love of the bridegroom for the bride (the church) that He has redeemed for His own. A song about us.

Your love is devoted like a ring of solid gold

Like a vow that is tested like a covenant of old

And Your love is enduring through the winter rain

And beyond the horizon with mercy for today

Faithful You have been and faithful you will be

You pledge yourself to me and it's why I sing

Your praise will ever be on my lips, ever be on my lips...

You Father the orphan

Your kindness makes us whole

And you shoulder our weakness

And your strength becomes our own

Now you're making me like you

Clothing me in white

Bringing beauty from ashes

For You will have Your bride

Free of all her guilt and rid of all her shame

And known by her true name and it's why I sing

Your praise will ever be on my lips, ever be on my lips...

The bridegroom will be coming for His bride. The bride that was once ashes has now been freed from the guilt and shame. What a blessed promise! And to be called by our true name! I hope thinking about the coming bridegroom makes you want to dance. And sing. And keep His praise ever on your lips.

Dear Jesus, we are so thankful you have called us to be your bride and we have the promise of your return. We love you and praise you and eagerly wait for you. Help us as we are becoming the bride worthy, to look around us and begin to change our world—your world. You are our bridegroom and we adore you for cleaning us and giving us garments of white as we wait for you. Praise your holy name Emmanuel, Messiah, Lamb of God. Thank you for your grace and your blessings of life. Surround us and protect us this day. Hallelujah and amen.

Love you dear one,

Pam
