September 27–Find Us Faithful

Happy Thursday. How are you doing? A week from today, we will have a new baby in our family. If everything goes as planned, Robert Talmadge Hudson, IV (Bo) will be entering this world. This Nina is just about excited. 


“Don’t you see that children are GOD ’s best gift? the fruit of the womb his generous legacy? Like a warrior’s fistful of arrows are the children of a vigorous youth. Oh, how blessed are you parents, with your quivers full of children! Your enemies don’t stand a chance against you; you’ll sweep them right off your doorstep.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭127:3-5‬ ‭MSG‬‬


Children are God’s best gift! And truly, they are. No matter how they may come to us—as our children, as grandchildren, as neighbors, as nieces and nephews, as kids we simply see at church...kids are God’s best gift! And it’s our jobs, collectively, to teach them, to show them patience, and kindness and be an example for them so that they may learn to love Jesus. 


There’s an old song that says 

“May all who come behind us find us faithful. May the fire of our devotion light their way. May the footprints that we leave, lead them to believe and the lives we live inspire them to obey, Oh may all who come behind us find us faithful.” And we all have those people we look to who inspired us to believe. Now, it’s our turn for the next generation that we influence. And whether you think you are influencing or not, let me assure you...you are. One way or another, we are all influencing someone. 


Dear Lord in Heaven, we pray that all who come behind us find us faithful. We ask that the fire you began in us burns bright enough for those around us to see and that we would teach the little ones to love you. For you Father alone are worth of honor and worship. You are the great Jehovah Jireh, the El Elyon, the God most high, the King of Kings and we offer all praise and glory to you this day Hallelujah and amen.

Happy Friday. It’s the end of another week and we have had more opportunities to share the love of Christ with those around us and sometimes that takes quite a bit of effort. I don’t know about you, but I’m not always anxious to embrace others and really listen to them or share with them (especially those who I don’t know well). Happy Wednesday to you. I hope your week is going well. Yesterday, I went to Sams. I was out of things like trash bags, toilet paper, and chicken, so off I went. I like going to Sams because there is always lots to look at and the isles are nice and wide. Everytime I’m there, I am amazed at how much stuff and everything from diapers to TVs to mangos to beds. It just seems incredible that so many things in such quantities are all under one roof.  King David never saw a store with as much stuff aa Sams of course, but he did see countless miracles and understand that God has plans. He knew from creation and history that he was serving a God of miracles and he know that God loved him and his people and would take care of them. It’s Thursday and I woke up to the blowing wind! Lots of it—I’m dreading Boomer waking up and having to go outside with him. That harsh, bitter wind seems cruel and almost evil. But I’ll wrap myself up with a fe layers and boots and brave it all.  Sometimes I think we try to do that with things we know aren’t right—things that are evil. We try to wrap ourselves up and just wade into it, but Paul tells us we should reject it—stay away from it. “Do not treat prophecies with contempt but test them all; hold on to what is good, reject every kind of evil. May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
