August 6- Never Once
Good Monday to you! How was the weekend? I hope you had a great time of worship with fellow believers yesterday wherever you may have been.
Yesterday, I was in the midst of a wonderful corporate worship service with a great teaching sermon. But I think the one thing that touched my soul was this song. From the very start, it painted a picture for me.All of us who have lived through hard times, tragedies, and/or real suffering that has left deep wounds and battle scars, we can sing out loud these lyrics together.
Standing on this mountain top
Looking just how far we’ve come
Knowing that for every step
You were with us
Kneeling on this battle ground
Seeing just how much you’ve done
Knowing every victory
Was your power in us
Scars and struggles on the way
But with joy our hearts can say
Never once did we ever walk alone
Never once did you leave us on our own
You are faithful, God you are faithful
You are faithful, God you are faithful.
We didn’t go through any of our mess alone. Never. Not once did He ever say “Hey, wait just a minute, I’ll be right back” and then we slipped His mind. Nope. Never, not once. No matter what it was, where it was or when it was. God was faithful and God is still faithful. Even those times when we couldn’t walk, or even crawl, he was faithful and just held us until we were ready to walk again.
Last night, Georgia and I were talking about strongholds that creep in and sneak into our lives. Well guess what? The very same God who carried us though the worst times in our lives is certainly tough enough to help us break through any stronghold that Satan thinks he might have snuck in our back door when we were preoccupied with other things.
“We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ.” 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 NLT
We cannot fight those strongholds of human reasoning with human reasoning. For example, when someone is mean to you, the human side of you is ready to be mean back—that doesn’t help anyone (including you) know Jesus better. “We destroy every obstacle that keeps people from knowing God.” Strongholds. What’s the one you need to destroy?
Dear Jesus, thank you for being faithful. For being good and kind to us. We love you and ask for your help to destroy the strongholds in our lives with your mighty weapons. We pray for your power and wisdom as we fight this battle against our faulty reasoning and our proud obstacles. You are our God and we are your people. We cry holy holy holy is the Lamb that was slain for our salvation. Praise you Lord. Amen and amen.
Love you dear friend,
Pam
