August 25-Weekend Priorities

It’s the weekend and have I got a full schedule! It’s furniture moving day with the boys and we are going to try to finish it all up. The last few days I have been so tired at night, I just fall into bed and I’m sure tonight will be no different. But of all the things going and all the things planned, I don’t want to forget that it’s time to prepare my heart for corporate worship. The time when we come together with other believers to worship our God and King.

So, what ever you have planned, don’t get so wrapped up in it that you forget to plan preparation time. Time you can spend alone with God, getting your heart ready before you walk into a service will make such a difference in how the worship effects you. If you are ready when you enter into a service, you find yourself worshipping with your whole heart, and not just go through the motions.

As Jesus said to the woman at the well,

“But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.””

‭‭John‬ ‭4:23-24‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Perhaps you aren’t like me in that your mind doesn’t run amuck when you aren’t prepared, but I have difficulty worshipping God in spirit and truth (with my whole heart) when I have 100 other things running through my brain. So for me to surrender to worship, I have to prepare myself. I need to do some alone time, spend time in the word, pray for my heart to be cleansed, and ready my mind. When I fail to prepare, I receive only a portion of what God had ready for me. And that is disappointing to say the least—it can just become a ritual of going through the motions.

“O God, we meditate on your unfailing love as we worship in your Temple.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭48:9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Dear Jesus help me to remember the most important thing I can do this weekend is to prepare my heart for worship with fellow believers. The blessings you have ready for us to receive when we worship with everything we are come only when we surrender completely to you. Help us Lord as we prepare and ready our hearts and minds to commune with you with fellow believers. Oh God you inhabit the praises of your people and we want to sing to your goodness and glory this weekend. You are love and your unfailing love for us knows no limits. We ask for your spirit to fill us and to guide us as we live and breathe for you. In the precious name of Jesus, our only Great King, we pray. Amen and amen.

Love you dear friend,

Pam
