August 24–Afraid Much?

Happy Friday! Well, I am in my new house. Not moved exactly, but I’m here with the necessities! (Corn chips, tea, crackers, and Cheerios). To be very honest with you though, before I went yesterday to sign all my papers, I had a little melt-down—maybe a full on come-apart. I know it may sound silly, but it was a big step for me to take on my own. I’ve just never done anything like this with only me—one signature where there were blanks for two. So as I’m in full “oh poor me” and “I don’t think I can do this” mode, I glanced in the mirror and saw my face. It looked awful and it stopped me for a second. It was then that I heard that still small voice say “Good grief girl! Get your hair fixed and get your make up on! You’re going to be late. And...you’re gonna be fine. I’m with you.” So, I did, I was and He was.

Sometimes, I think we expect the Spirit of God to come to us like we imagine He did with Moses—Big and loud. But for almost all of us, the Spirit is going to be speaking directly to our hearts. And I believe, in the language of our hearts. In a way we completely understand and in a way we will respond. But we have to be quiet enough and tuned in enough to catch it.

I know there are those who might tell me that was just me talking to myself. But myself was a mess. Myself was having a terrible time pulling it together until the Spirit intervened WHEN I was quiet for just that second of shock.

And the funny thing? It was exactly something that Bob Hudson would have said to me. Which is so like God. To not only pull us out of a scary place (whether we created it ourselves or we are just there) and give us comfort in a most familiar way.

“And God has given us his Spirit as proof that we live in him and he in us...We know how much God loves us, and we have put our trust in his love. God is love, and all who live in love live in God, and God lives in them...Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear.”

‭‭1 John‬ ‭4:13, 16, 18‬a ‭NLT‬‬

Dear God thank you for loving us enough to give us your Spirit to abide with us on a 24/7 basis. Thank you for caring enough about us that even when we become afraid, your perfect love dispels all that fear. You are so amazing Lord, my mind can not conceive your greatness and glory but I am so overwhelmed by how much you care. You are glorious and we pour out our praise to you this day. Please surround us Lord. Amen and amen.

Love you dear one,

Pam, aka homeowner
