August 18–Plans

It’s the weekend and everyone seems to have an agenda for what to do as the summer quickly fades away. I’ve got to do some driving today after I do some laundry! All the plans. But as Solomon says “We make our plans, but it’s the Lord who determines our steps.“

The apostle Paul was forever planning and his plans were always being changed—sometimes by him but mostly by circumstance. Yet, God has the perfect plan laid out for Paul.

“You may be asking why I changed my plan. Do you think I make my plans carelessly? Do you think I am like people of the world who say “Yes” when they really mean “No”? As surely as God is faithful, our word to you does not waver between “Yes” and “No.” For Jesus Christ, the Son of God, does not waver between “Yes” and “No.” He is the one whom Silas, Timothy, and I preached to you, and as God’s ultimate “Yes,” he always does what he says. For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” (which means “Yes”) ascends to God for his glory.”

‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭1:17-20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Paul had his plans, but he also understood it was all for the glory of God. We can get so caught up in our schedules and times that we are easily frustrated when those are altered. Yet, circumstances and God’s plan will take priority. As long as we commit our plans to Him, he will use them for his glory, but not necessarily how we envisioned it playing out. Life happens and we need to simply embrace it and realize God is in control here.

Father of Light we pray your blessings on this day and on our plans. Show us what you have in store for us and we ask that you don’t let us miss the blessings along the way. Thank you for this journey we call life and thank you for teaching us every single day. We love you and adore you and we sing out our praises to the only Great King. Amen and amen.

Love you dear one,

Pam
