August 10-Seek and Find

It’s Friday. I hope you’ve had a productive week or at least a fun one! Over the last couple of days, my sister and I have been tasked with finding things. We have been all over asking questions and talking with lots of people hunting. Sometimes, we have been successful. Sometimes not. When we were, we were excited and added it to our list and we high-fived each other! That’s how it is when you are on the hunt—you look and look until you find.

That is exactly how scripture describes the Master seeking for us. We are lost and helpless out on our own, but the Master drops everything to look until he finds us. And then, when he does, He carries us back home on His shoulders and the angels rejoice with Him—when we, the wandering, lost sheep are finally found.

““Suppose one of you had a hundred sheep and lost one. Wouldn’t you leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the lost one until you found it? When found, you can be sure you would put it across your shoulders, rejoicing, and when you got home call in your friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Celebrate with me! I’ve found my lost sheep!’ Count on it—there’s more joy in heaven over one sinner’s rescued life than over ninety-nine good people in no need of rescue.” Luke‬ ‭15:4-7‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Doesn’t it feel good to know that the angels rejoiced when you were saved? To know that your life was cause for celebration in heaven? Wow! That is something to sit back and ponder I think. It makes me realize that not only was the price paid for salvation a great cost, but my decision to accept that gift is taken very seriously by the Lord himself and the heavenly host. Can I treat it with any less awe and wonder? His promises are new each morning, and so should be my thankfulness for salvation.

Dear Jesus, thank you for saving me and please Lord, never let me take for granted that sacred gift. We praise you for the celebrations of the redeemed and we join with the angels as they rejoice for those who have just accepted your salvation—the new births into the Kingdom. We sing of your great love and your mercy, glory to you our almighty King. You are El Elyon, the God most high. Amen and amen.

Love you dear friend,

Pam
