July 6–Without Fear
I heard a song yesterday by Zac Williams and the words just continue to resonate with me.
When he told you were troubled
You'll forever be alone
When he told you you should run away
You'll never find a home
When he told you you were dirty
And you should be ashamed
When he told you you could be the one
That grace could never change
Fear he is a liar
He will take your breath
Stop you in your steps
Fear he is a liar
He will rob your rest
Steal your happiness
Cast your fear in the fire
'Cause fear he is a liar

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”
2 Timothy 1:7 NLT
Fear is a liar and that fear we all feel from time to time is not from God. That’s not the feeling He gives us nor is it one He wants for us. Clearly, the opposite is true for God has given us a spirit of power, love and self-discipline.
I read those words “When he told you could be the one that grace could never change” I wonder how many of us have felt that. Because we know that the old ugly man in us will come out and we have to fall on our face before God and ask for forgiveness, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been changed by His grace. It just means that we are a work in progress that will never be perfect this side of heaven.
But Satan is alive and well and seeking whom he can chew up and casting fear around us is a perfect way to “stop us in our tracks” because of all things, he cannot let us attend to our calling.
“He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time,”
2 Timothy 1:9 NIV
So when we struggle with fear, as we all do from time to time, hum a few lines of Zac’s tune and be bold as you say “Fear you are a liar!”
Jesus we thank you for giving us the spirit of love and power and self-control. You gave us power to over come this spirit of fear that tries to entangle us a steal the joy of our salvation and we praise you that we can overcome. You alone are good and holy and help us to remember that we will work toward our calling of holiness until we see you face to face. We love and adore you and will soon bow before you. Amen and amen.
Love you dear friend,
Pam
