July 5-Our Calling

Good Thursday to you! I hope this has been a good week for you and that you were able to live out your calling. Yesterday watching kids ride a tube and eating lots of food and of course fireworks, I thought about how we have been called to love deeply.

“This is the Message I’ve been set apart to proclaim as preacher, emissary, and teacher. It’s also the cause of all this trouble I’m in. But I have no regrets. I couldn’t be more sure of my ground—the One I’ve trusted in can take care of what he’s trusted me to do right to the end...So keep at your work, this faith and love rooted in Christ, exactly as I set it out for you. It’s as sound as the day you first heard it from me. Guard this precious thing placed in your custody by the Holy Spirit who works in us.”

‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭1:11-14‬ ‭MSG‬‬

As Christ-followers, we are called to be long-haul neighbors, committed to authenticity and willing to take some risks. Our vocation is to invest deeply in the lives of those around us, devoted to one another, physically close to each other as we breathe the same air and walk along the same places.

Our purpose is no mystery. We get to love and be deeply loved right where we’re planted, by whomever happens to be near. We will without fail encounter brokenness we cannot fix, untangle, or understand, and we may feel small, uncertain, and overwhelmed.

But in this calling of Jesus, we find our very lives as we act like Him amount people and it does make a difference, it does change people, and in a real way, it can change everything.

Even though our lives may look completely quiet and ordinary, filling His calling exhausts and thrills us. Jesus is very near.

Lord thank you for calling us to this life we live. You have loved us with such an overwhelming love, how can we not share it it those around us. Help us to love more fully, and less conditionally. You alone are worthy of praise and glory and we pray we can live our lives in your service and in your image. Thank you for your blessings and for your lessons. We are your people and you are our God. Amen and amen.

Love you dear one,

Pam
