July 3–Overcomers

Happy Tuesday! I sure hope this finds you feeling well.

Yesterday Mia and Ozzie and I were shooting a few fireworks and laughing pretty hard. They were running with sparklers in just free abandonment and enjoying life. Watching them took me straight back to when I was young and carefree.

As children, most of us had that sense of security, were fed and clothed and basically, didn’t worry about much. We were carefree. And then, we grow up. Sometimes the weight of the world overwhelms is and the unknown is so big, that we completely lose our sense of security. We begin to doubt it all. Everything we know, everything we believe, even what we see. But the reality is, He is holding us. It might look like we are surrounded on all sides by all things awful, but He is surrounding us.

“Even when the way goes through Death Valley, I’m not afraid when you walk at my side. Your trusty shepherd’s crook makes me feel secure.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭23:4‬ ‭MSG‬‬

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:37-39‬ ‭ESV‬‬

There is nothing this world has that can separate us. That my friend is a feeling of safety and security like none other. So let the world give it’s best shot. What can it possibly do when I’m sure of the love of God in Jesus Christ?

We have been made more than conquerors, we have been made to overcome this world because of the blood of Jesus. The very one who lived and died for us is not sitting by God himself, pleading our case. Do we really think that someone or something will drive a wedge between us? Trouble, hard times, homelessness, hatred, bullying threats, backstabbing? NOTHING can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.

So grab a sparkler and just run because you are safe!

Dear Jesus thank you for your love that is radical and reckless and overwhelming. We praise your name because you promise us that there is nothing the world can do that will separate us. You are so good and kind to us and we worship you in your majesty and glory this day. Hallelujah to our risen Lord who overcame this world and provided the path for us to overcome. Amen and amen.

Love you dear friend,

Pam
