June 23-Wisdom
My sister and I have spent about 2,000 hours researching and visiting nursing homes and assisted living centers with memory care units within a 50-mile radius. It’s a position no one wants to be in, but truly if we live long enough, we will all probably end up needing full time care. It’s that circle of life—just as we needed constant supervision when we were two, my mom needs it at 90. What we have found though, there are some nice places. Places that look like home and not a hospital so that does make it a little easier but none the less, it’s not a task for the weak, this declaring your mom needs full-time care and putting her in a home. Tough call.
One of the things we have held on to is the wisdom of God through out this process. James gives us clear instructions on asking for wisdom. And Sissy and I have certainly prayed and asked over the last few weeks.
“If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind...So don’t be misled, my dear brothers and sisters. Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.” James 1:5-6, 16-17 NLT
Whatever is good and perfect comes from God our Father, the one who never changes. Isn’t that a wonderful promise? If it’s good and if it’s perfect, it’s a gift from God, no questions, no discussions. He gives ONLY perfect gifts to us.
The Father of lights never CHANGES and in this world where month to month you never know what’s right nor wrong, one thing you can know for sure, God is the same. He still wants the same things from us—the same holiness and the same devotion to His Word. And that’s because it’s the very best for us.
“He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all creation, became his prized possession.”
James 1:18 NLT
Father of Lights we praise you this day and we stand in the light of your glory—your light never casts a shifting shadow and we are safe in your love. We pray for wisdom in life’s difficult decisions and we ask for your help in keeping our faith strong and unwavering. You are holy and you are worthy Almighty God of the universe. You are greater than the greatest, higher than the high, you alone are worthy of our praise and our worship. El Elyon, you reign. Amen and amen.
Love you dear friend,
Pam
