May 9-Wear Love

Happy Wednesday! I have a tree in my yard that I was certain was dead. It looked like the bad winter, capped with the early freeze, had just killed it. I had even made arrangements to have it cut down, when yesterday I started looking at it and realized it is alive! It is coming out and is going to be good.

How many times have we thought something had “killed” our spirit? Or wiped out all of our sense of kindness or patience? Or someone has truly hurt us and we feel like they have killed whatever feelings we had for them?

But if we are truly in the wardrobe God has chosen for his children, those things cant be dead, can they? They may have been frozen and take a little time to see again, but they aren’t dead.

“So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It’s your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it.”

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:12-14‬ ‭MSG‬‬

I like how we are told to love and never go anywhere or do anything without it. Not just to love, but wear it so everyone can see you have that love. Christ IS love and if we have His Spirit living in us, we can do all things with love. It’s Jesus’ basic instruction—Love one another and He explains that means not putting ourselves first, but content to be second.

Dear Jesus, thank you for teaching us what it looks like to love. And thank you for first loving us with your crazy, fervent, radical love. You are our Messiah, our soon and coming King of kings. You reign above all powers, all nations and with majesty and power and dominion. Help us to love more completely, more fully, and more radically. We praise you and honor you this day. Amen and amen.

Love you dear one,

Pam
