May 31

Happy Thursday! I hope your Wednesday was a bit less stressful than ours was. For me and my sister and my brothers and my sisters-in-law, it was just a bit extreme. Between my mother (who has severe Alzheimer’s) being admitted to the hospital in Neosho and her husband in the hospital at KU Medical Center with a new cancer diagnosis, we were running like crazy people.

We have been trying to make decisions for short term and for long term and for everyone’s best interests and have decided there are no great answers. It can make you nutty and it can make you second guess every thought you have. As I continued to dwell on all the events of the day, this passage from the apostle Paul came to me.

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:6-8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

What a relief! What a peace is mine! It is the way to relax and to give it all away by praying about everything and then fixing our thoughts on things that are true, and good and right and pure and excellent and lovely. He will guard our heard and minds if only we allow Him to do so. And yes, it’s not an easy thing to do, but it IS possible. And when we do it...when we pray about everything and thank Him for the good things and fix our minds on things worthy of praise...we have peace in the midst of our storm.

Dear Jesus, thank you for providing a way for us to give over the cares of this life. Bless you for peace in the midst of our chaos. All the worries and crazy things that steal our joy and peace, you can make calm. We adore you and worship you for who you are. You are the Lord God Almighty, the King of Kings. You are right, and true, and pure, and admirable. Amen and amen.

Love you dear one,

Pam
