May 30-Build the House

Happy Wednesday Phil. How are you doing today? My house now has walls and a roof and I’m getting excited about it. When we saw it yesterday, my sister said “it looks like a house!” Isn’t it amazing how when one thing happens the whole project takes on a completely new look? 


It makes me think of our lives as we work toward building our walk with Christ. We start with one block at a time and little by little, He has shaped us and moulded us into a person that people can recognize as a Christian. We can love more fully, we can care more deeply, we can share with more frequency, we can give with more generosity, and we can offer more grace to those who don’t deserve it. In short, we have begun to take on the attributes of of Lord Jesus and we look like a Christian. 


It doesn’t mean we are perfect or that we never make a mistake, but that for the most part, we make the choices that Jesus would have us make. We read the scriptures, meditate on the word and communicate with our Father. We do our best to walk in the way of the Master. 


“But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him. Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.”

‭‭1 John‬ ‭2:5-6‬ ‭NLT‬‬


Dear Jesus we love you and we pray that you would grant us the strength and courage to live like you did. We ask for the wisdom to build our lives strong and in your image. Help us to live like you so that when others look at us, they know we belong to you. Creator of the universe, you are good and you are great, you are the Almighty, King of Kings. We praise you and lift you high. Thank you God for saving us and for making us whole. We love you Lord. Amen and amen.

PS. These tents we abide in are fragile. My mom fell early this morning and broke her pelvis. It’s hard for her to understand since her dementia is so advanced consequently she will need to be hospitalized for a few days. Thank you for your prayers.

Happy Friday. It’s the end of another week and we have had more opportunities to share the love of Christ with those around us and sometimes that takes quite a bit of effort. I don’t know about you, but I’m not always anxious to embrace others and really listen to them or share with them (especially those who I don’t know well). Happy Wednesday to you. I hope your week is going well. Yesterday, I went to Sams. I was out of things like trash bags, toilet paper, and chicken, so off I went. I like going to Sams because there is always lots to look at and the isles are nice and wide. Everytime I’m there, I am amazed at how much stuff and everything from diapers to TVs to mangos to beds. It just seems incredible that so many things in such quantities are all under one roof.  King David never saw a store with as much stuff aa Sams of course, but he did see countless miracles and understand that God has plans. He knew from creation and history that he was serving a God of miracles and he know that God loved him and his people and would take care of them. It’s Thursday and I woke up to the blowing wind! Lots of it—I’m dreading Boomer waking up and having to go outside with him. That harsh, bitter wind seems cruel and almost evil. But I’ll wrap myself up with a fe layers and boots and brave it all.  Sometimes I think we try to do that with things we know aren’t right—things that are evil. We try to wrap ourselves up and just wade into it, but Paul tells us we should reject it—stay away from it. “Do not treat prophecies with contempt but test them all; hold on to what is good, reject every kind of evil.
