May 22-Rocks in the Road

Happy Tuesday! My sister took a tumble yesterday (she skinned her hands) but I’m hoping today is better for her since “Tuesday’s child is full of grace!” Right?

It’s amazing how a misplaced rock and a little mud can just take you to the ground. Sissy wasn’t watching her every step and before you could blink, she was rolling—thrown down by a misstep.

How often does that happen to us spiritually? If we forget to pay attention to our steps, we neglect Gods Word and fail to attend to our prayer life, all sorts of things can trip us up and we on flat on our back.

“But if you remain in me and my words remain in you, you may ask for anything you want, and it will be granted! When you produce much fruit, you are my true disciples. This brings great glory to my Father.” John‬ ‭15:7-8‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Remember the song we sang as children? “Read your Bible, pray everyday and you’ll grow, grow, grow”? And the next verse? “Don’t read your Bible, forget to pray and you’ll shrink, shrink, shrink.” In fact, if Satan gets a toe-hold, he will throw you to the ground.

The power of the Gospel only works if we engage it. We can talk about the mighty power of the Almighty, but if we never pray the prayer, it goes unanswered.

“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. Elijah was as human as we are, and yet when he prayed earnestly that no rain would fall, none fell for three and a half years!”

‭‭James‬ ‭5:16-17‬ ‭NLT‬‬

That my friends is an engaged prayer. And the best news? What ever Satan throws to the ground, Jesus picks up.

Lord Jesus, thank you for picking us up when we fall and we ask for help to stay on our feet. We pray for the desire and the faithfulness to attend to your holy scriptures, and to commune with you continually. You are our God and we are your people. Help us to remember and practice that. We love you and magnify your name this day. Thank you for caring about us, even the small details of our lives. Amen and amen.

Love you dear one,

Pam
