May 18–New House

Happy Friday! How are you today? I have a friend moving into a new house this morning. She and her daughter have been living in a very small rent house and now, they are moving into their own home with lots of room! She is super excited and ready to go.

Before she bought it, she had inspections done to make sure it was all good, but how awful it would be for her if she moved into her new place and then things started to fall apart—if it wasn’t built correctly?

““Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on the rock. The rain fell, the rivers rose, and the winds blew and pounded that house. Yet it didn’t collapse, because its foundation was on the rock.”

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7:24-25‬ ‭HCSB‬‬

Jesus is telling us that if you want to built a strong house, it has to have a strong foundation. And obviously He was talking about us. If we want to build a strong life, full of the grace and knowledge of Jesus, we can’t just slap something together with out building our lives on the rock. Otherwise, when the winds and the rains come, our house will just collapse like one made of straw.

I really don’t like the process of moving, but I do like that it reminds me of our final move that We will all be making. We use these bodies, these tents if you will while we are here on earth but when we move to the City of God, we will just leave these tents behind. Our souls will be free at last to completely commune with our Savior.

“The main street of the City was pure gold, translucent as glass. But there was no sign of a Temple, for the Lord God—the Sovereign-Strong—and the Lamb are the Temple. The City doesn’t need sun or moon for light. God’s Glory is its light, the Lamb its lamp! The nations will walk in its light and earth’s kings bring in their splendor. Its gates will never be shut by day, and there won’t be any night. They’ll bring the glory and honor of the nations into the City. Nothing dirty or defiled will get into the City, and no one who defiles or deceives. Only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life will get in.” Revelation‬ ‭21:21-27‬ ‭MSG‬‬

As much as my friend is excited about her earthly house, how much more so are we all going to be in our new home where the Lamb is the light? Beyond words. And for me, that’s saying something.

Dear Jesus thank you Lord for being our strong and mighty foundation in this life so full of winds and storms. You are our Rock, our hope of eternal life and you are building a place for us right now where you reign forever. We can hardly wait to be with you and to offer you our praise and blessings and honor—you alone are worthy. We love you Lord because you first loved us. Amen and amen.

Love you dear one,

Pam
