May 17–Storms and Calm

Happy Thursday! Did you experience storms last night where you were? I sure did! Thunder, lightning, wind and heavy rains and while in the midst of them, I was thinking how great it is to have a Savior who is always the God of the storms. With a couple of words, he calmed a raging storm.

It seems for me, it’s not at all hard to remember to cling to Jesus in the storms of my life. When I have to constantly remind myself is not in the rough times, but when things are smooth sailing. Those are the days when I tend to think “I’ve got this now!” And those “easy seasons” of life have the potential to be our most dangerous.

When Moses and the Children of Israel approached Mt Sinai where God was abiding, they were flat-out scared and even Moses was “terrified and trembling” at the sight. But, we have no reason to fear when we come to the place where God resides.

“No, you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to countless thousands of angels in a joyful gathering. You have come to the assembly of God’s firstborn children, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God himself, who is the judge over all things. You have come to the spirits of the righteous ones in heaven who have now been made perfect. You have come to Jesus, the one who mediates the new covenant between God and people, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks of forgiveness instead of crying out for vengeance like the blood of Abel.”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:22-24‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“You have come to God himself...”. What a awesome thing to think! We are able to approach the throne without fear or worry of vengeance. We are His and we have been covered by the blood of the precious Lamb. Coming to the spirits of the righteous ones, the holy and perfect ones is a great privilege and is not to be taken lightly. He is God and the judge over all. We need to remember that even though we approach Mt Zion freely, it isn’t something we do casually and something we must take seriously—for sure in our bad times but especially in the good times.

Dear Jesus we thank you and glorify your Name for being our Meditator and our Savior and providing us free access to Mt Zion Your precious blood makes clear the way that our name can be written in heaven and because of your sacrifice, we can be counted among the firstborn of God Almighty. We offer this day to you our sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving and our songs of hallelujah because you have overcome. We give you our love and adoration. Amen and amen.

Love you dear one,

Pam
