May 12-Run!

Happy Saturday! I was reading the Message yesterday and this passage really spoke to me.

“Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit!

No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:1-3‬ ‭MSG‬‬

A friend of mine wrote an article about the Tarahumara and in it, he spoke about their running affinity. They are great long distance runners and they do so in a blouse, loin cloth and shoes made from tires. They don’t have running gear or high dollar shoes, but yet they can outpace anyone in a distance race, especially over rough terrains. They are well prepared and have trained all their lives for running without a set-aside training time—it’s just a way of life for them because it’s their lifestyle to run everywhere.

I really believe that is what the apostle is telling us here—run! Run everyday, everywhere you go. Be IN the race, not just observing it, but keep running toward our final destination. Make it a lifestyle to run. And here he reminds us that Jesus was our perfect example. He ran straight through everything that was thrown at Him.

So what does that mean for us? Keep going. Through thick, thin, and awful, keep running. Don’t stop trusting, believing or doing. Keep running for all your worth. It shoots adrenaline right through your soul to give you the energy you need for the next rock or mountain you face.

Dear Jesus we praise you for being the perfect example, the Almighty and Maker of our heavenly home. You are our Alpha and Omegle, the Daystar that we cherish. We pray for you to guide us and give us the stamina to run our race and not let things of this world hold us back. We love you and praise you this day. Amen and amen.

Love you dear friend,

Pam
