April 3–Beautiful Feet?

Happy Tuesday to you. I hope it’s a beautiful day where you are and that today you will be able to bring the Good News to someone who stands in need.

My friends and I were talking the other day about the offensiveness of the Gospel and especially the name of Jesus. We were offering our ideas as to why we thought it brought on such opposition from those who don’t share our faith and rather than have a “tolerant” attitude as there might be to other religions, there is often a strong, violent reaction. Our pastor Sunday offered the idea that Jesus challenges man’s position. Man tends to enjoy a perceived position of being in control of life—as little mini-intern-gods. We want to be the ones in charge, the ones who are always right. And let’s face it, if we are in a battle with Jesus, He is always going to be right (of course). Offensive. Living with someone who is never wrong? Hard! You either have to declare Him your Lord and Master or you have to prepare to be offended.

I think the problem grows when folks are just slapped on the face with the gospel but never have it presented to them. (And there is a difference.) They never have it given to them the way Jesus would have where they could understand and decide if this IS Good News for them, if this Living Water REALLY means they wouldn’t be thirsty any more. So I think as we go about our day and share Jesus naturally with those around us, let’s make sure our feet are beautiful, and not clad in army boots stomping on those we hope to share the most important of all messages. Because how will they know unless someone tells them?

“If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved...For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is why the Scriptures say, “How beautiful are the feet of messengers who bring good news!””

‭‭Romans‬ ‭10:9-10, 13-15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Thank you Father for the feet of the one who brought the Good News to me and who loved me through some tough times. Father help us to share your great Good News with those around us in loving and kind ways that will bring them to a saving Faith. Lord we pray for beautiful feet. Praise you El Elyon, the God most high.

Love you precious friend,

Pam
