March 27-The mind of Christ

Happy Tuesday and I hope your week got off to a good start. We were able to get another load into the storage unit yesterday, so little by little, and step by step as they say, right? And that’s how we are reading through the book of Philippians this week.

If you are keeping up, today we are reading 1:22-30; 2:1-11 (the next 24 verses). In these verses, Paul bluntly talks about trying to decide if he wants to live or die. He would really rather go on to heaven and be with the Lord, but he realizes that he can’t help anyone on earth if he is in heaven, so he supposes he probably should stay here a little longer. Do you ever have such a longing? Especially when things here seem so bleak or you are really sick. I know there have been times in my life especially in the last couple of years that I thought “If I could just go to sleep tonight and wake up in heaven, how great that would be!” And then you remember those you’d be leaving behind and all the things you would be leaving undone and unsaid and realize you still have work left to do.

Then in chapter two, the apostle is admonishing us is to have the mind of Christ.

“then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.” Philippians‬ ‭2:2

He is asking us, the church to not be divisive and he is stressing if we remain in the same spirit, with the same love, with the same mind of Christ, we are going to have the same mind and not be divided. I don’t think that means we won’t have differing taste on certain things, but I do think in the things that matter, we will be of one accord and those other things...we will realize they really don’t matter anyway.

The things that do matter, like our salvation and the salvation of others is possible because our Messiah gave himself as an offering. And because Christ humbled himself and became obedient even to death, He was honored by God the Father.

“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭9-11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

At the name of Jesus every knee shall bow...that is one of my very favorite passages of scripture. And one we should all commit to memory. Because there will be that day when the eastern sky breaks open and Christ will apear for His children. On that day, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that He is the King. And on that day, it won’t matter if there are things undone or unsaid, it’s finished. Things we need to say and do? We need to be saying and doing.

Oh Jesús we love you and we worship your holy Name that is above all names, you are our Messiah, Jehovah, our blessed Prince of Peace, the Son of God, the Great I Am. Bless us as we study your word together and help us to commit it to our hearts. Thank you for loving us and for watching over us. You are a good good Father. Amen and amen.

Love you dear one,

Pam
