March 15-Ides of March

Happy Thursday, aka the Ides of March. I was thinking on this day how great it is to have friends and spend time with them, especially those long time friends that know us well and the trust is strong. On this day though, we are reminded that it didn’t work out so well for Caesar. Traditionally, this is the day that corresponds to the Roman calendar as the assassination of Julius Caesar. He was stabbed to death at a meeting of the senate by his so called friends as a result of a conspiracy of as many as 60.

It was very sad that he couldn’t trust those closest to him. What an awful feeling that must have been for him in those last few moments, to realize his friends didn’t love him. In the book of John, Jesus gives a very clear formula that God uses to know who loves Him—those who keep His commandments.

“The person who knows my commandments and keeps them, that’s who loves me. And the person who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and make myself plain to him...Because a loveless world,” said Jesus, “is a sightless world. If anyone loves me, he will carefully keep my word and my Father will love him—we’ll move right into the neighborhood! Not loving me means not keeping my words. The message you are hearing isn’t mine. It’s the message of the Father who sent me.”

‭‭John‬ ‭14:21, 23-24‬ ‭MSG‬‬

If we love the Lord, we will carefully work toward keeping His word and He will love us and He will move right on in! What a great promise! God will actually be living inside us. Now that is a wonderful thing. There is no mistaking that kind of friendship if He abides completely within you! You never have to wonder if you can trust Him or not.

There are some who may tell you that if you fall, God will leave you. On the contrary. God is not expecting us to be perfect but what He does ask of us is a dedicated spirit and a heart that is purpose driven—driven with a single intent to serve the Lord our God with all our heart and with all our strength and all our mind.

Father God, thank you for saving us and making us your own. We praise you Bright Morning Star for lighting the way and for being our guide. You are the great I Am, the Alpha and the Omega, the Messiah. We will bless you Lord, with all that we have, You are Holy God, most Holy. Amen and amen.

Love you dear one,

Pam
