March 14-Good News into the Bad News

Happy Wednesday. Here it is...hump day, as they say, half way through your week. How is it going? Last Sunday in church, we were challenged to bring the Good News of the Gospel into bad news stories or situations and as we all know, there are multitudes of those everywhere we look. Have you seen a bad news story first hand in the first half of this week? A situation where you thought people or children just shouldn’t have to live like that? Those are stories where the Good news is desperately needed. This is where the church needs to step in and show the love of Jesus.

In no way are we ever demonstrating the love of Jesus more than when we love the least of those among us—those whom we look around and see are needing care and hope. You know, if we are going to love God, we are going to have to learn how to love those around us that are not so easy to love—those neighbors that may not have clean faces and sterling reputations.

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭147:3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The Messiah came to heal the wounded and the broken. His ministry was to the poor and afflicted, and not really to the privileged. He was despised by the upper crust because He ate with the lowlifes, the smelly fishermen, the cheaters, the young people and he healed their wounded and broken lives.

“Then Jesus made a circuit of all the towns and villages. He taught in their meeting places, reported kingdom news, and healed their diseased bodies, healed their bruised and hurt lives. When he looked out over the crowds, his heart broke. So confused and aimless they were, like sheep with no shepherd. “What a huge harvest!” he said to his disciples. “How few workers! On your knees and pray for harvest hands!””

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭9:35-38‬ ‭MSG‬‬

Oh Father God thank you for loving us no matter where we are or what we have done. Thank you for sending someone to love us and for sending us to love others. Help us to look around our world with seeing eyes to those who are hurting and those who need love. You are the God of love and light, and You are perfect in all of your ways. You are the Lord of the harvest, O God most High. Amen and amen.

Love you dear friend,

Pam.
