February 7–You Can’t Clean it If You Keep it Hidden. 

Happy Wednesday! Well, did everyone watch the largest ever rocket launch? The rocket with 23,000 kilonewtons of thrust which is more than twice the worlds current heaviest rocket. The Falcon Heavy was propelling a red roadster with a mannequin strapped in playing David Bowie in the background. And he was making sure It was quite the sight. 


At first glance it really looked like to me it was a case of a super rich guy playing scientist with a flair for drama. However after reading a little bid, I found out that the guy is a marketing genius. His Tesla company jumped from $100bn to $650bn through this little bit of showmanship. 

I don’t know Mr. Musks’s heart, and I certainly don’t know his intentions, but all I could think of as I watched rocket and the burn up of all that fuel were the words of King Solomon. 

““Meaningless! Meaningless!” says the Teacher. “Everything is meaningless!”...Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.”

That was a big, grandiose show so it’s easy to look at that and think that. But then, I thought “And self righteous Pam...what do you have hidden, good or evil, this day?” Let me tell you it’s not such a great question when it comes backwards. I don’t have billions of dollars I’m funneling, and for Pete’s sake I’m not sending a roadster to Mars! But...there are things that I probably should take care of. You know it doesn’t have to be huge and cost billions to get in our way. Have you got stuff? Stuff you hate to talk about? You know it just piles us under the bed if you don’t clean it out, don’t you?  

I heard the best statement lately “What you hide can’t be healed.” So, I’m sweeping under my bed and getting that car out of there today. 

“Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy? You should sing praises. Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven. Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.”

Champion of Heaven, thank you for making a way for us to approach the throne so that when things come between us we can confess and pray and you destroy those for us. You are our Champion. We worship you this day we praise and lift you high. You are the great Jehovah. Amen and amen.

Happy Friday. It’s the end of another week and we have had more opportunities to share the love of Christ with those around us and sometimes that takes quite a bit of effort. I don’t know about you, but I’m not always anxious to embrace others and really listen to them or share with them (especially those who I don’t know well). Happy Wednesday to you. I hope your week is going well. Yesterday, I went to Sams. I was out of things like trash bags, toilet paper, and chicken, so off I went. I like going to Sams because there is always lots to look at and the isles are nice and wide. Everytime I’m there, I am amazed at how much stuff and everything from diapers to TVs to mangos to beds. It just seems incredible that so many things in such quantities are all under one roof.  King David never saw a store with as much stuff aa Sams of course, but he did see countless miracles and understand that God has plans. He knew from creation and history that he was serving a God of miracles and he know that God loved him and his people and would take care of them. It’s Thursday and I woke up to the blowing wind! Lots of it—I’m dreading Boomer waking up and having to go outside with him. That harsh, bitter wind seems cruel and almost evil. But I’ll wrap myself up with a fe layers and boots and brave it all.  Sometimes I think we try to do that with things we know aren’t right—things that are evil. We try to wrap ourselves up and just wade into it, but Paul tells us we should reject it—stay away from it. “Do not treat prophecies with contempt but test them all; hold on to what is good, reject every kind of evil. May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
