February 10-Winter

Happy Saturday to you. I hope you had a great week. I’m in Springfield this weekend and we woke up to promises of a winter storm with ice and a wintry mix for today and tonight as did a good portion of the Midwest. I don’t know about you but I’m about over this winter stuff and I’m ready to move right on to summer. I saw a FB post that said “You know the best thing about winter? Nothing!” And I am pretty much agreed. Just FYI it’s going to be 80 today in Key West with a low of 73.

Isn’t it amazing how the weather changes everything from our plans to our moods? A nice, sunshiny day can make all of us in a great mood and ready to tackle any project. And conversely, a gloomy, cold day makes us want to curl up on the couch with a blanket and do nothing. And days like today just stop us in our tracks. Tomorrow? Who knows? Springfield could come to a halt for a few hours.

When you look at a storm do you ever think of the power that Jesus exerted when he just spoke to the wind and it calmed? I like the way the KJV reads here. The same word describes the storm as describes the calm—a great storm, a great calm. That tells me that when he stopped the wind, the water wasn’t just “better” it was scary silent. And it must have been scary because the disciples who had been waking with him and seen him perform miracles were scared! Wow. Wouldn’t you have liked to have seen that?

“And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm...And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?”

‭‭Mark‬ ‭4:37-39, 41‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Oh yeah. What manner of man is this? The truth is He is God, Jehovah, the Prince of Peace, the Second Person in the Trinity. HE IS. And no one stands above Him, He has no equal, He has no rival. He is El Elyon.

Yahweh we ask for your blessings and your presence upon us this day. We praise you and lift you high, high above all things. We love you, we honor you and we present ourselves to you. Amen and amen.

Love you dear one,

Pam
