Happy Saturday- Prepare your Mind

Good Saturday Morning! Are you ready for a great weekend? Remember to start praying today to prepare yourself for the Sabbath. Church and corporate worship are pretty much like all other activities—you get out of them no more than you are willing to put into them. Whether you play the piano or football or speak at a Women’s retreat or get something of our church on Sunday, you have to prepare yourself. It is simply is a matter of a success or failure.

“Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct,”

‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭1:13-15‬ ‭ESV‬‬

I love the fact that Peter does not mince words here (does he ever?) He tells it like it is—prepare your minds to act, be transformed, be holy. He is serious about Christian conduct. Jesus told him, “Peter if you love me, feed my sheep” and after everything Peter had been through and had seen with his eyes the risen Lord, He was determined to feed the sheep! He understands what is required and what is coming. He knows how tough the race will be and what a great weight sin can be. And so does Paul.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,”

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭12:1‬ ‭ESV‬‬

So, do we do that? Do we do a quick check every day before we start our daily run to make sure nothing is clinging to us that is going to slow us down today? No extra weight or extraneous stuff clinging to us that makes us extra tired? Anything that we should just tear up and throw away before we strap on our running shoes?

Today, as you prepare your mind, do a quick check and remember...be holy, because he who called you is holy.

Love you dear one,

Pam
